Review: Fear For Me (For Me #2) by Cynthia Eden

Book Blurb:

She’s the obsession two men share: one wants her love, the other wants her life.

A shared passion for justice first brought Baton Rouge district attorney Lauren Chandler and US marshal Anthony Ross together—when each played their part in bringing down the infamous Bayou Butcher. The sparks flying between the two made it clear they weren’t just a legal dream team. Then desire had to make way for duty, and what they had was done. But it would never be over.

Five years later, it’s none other than the Butcher who gets things started again, when his shocking jailbreak reunites the lawyer and the lawman…and reignites their love. But this time, the pair is in danger of being permanently parted—by a killer with revenge on his mind, and Lauren on the top of his list. As a new wave of terror sweeps through the streets and swamps of Baton Rouge, one man will pit his boundless passion against another’s relentless hate, for the life of the woman who obsesses them both.

My Review:

In Fear For Me by Cynthia Eden, DA Lauren and US Marshal Anthony have not seen each other for 5 years...  Hot when they were together, personally and professionally they seemed to fit.  When Anthony left Lauren was left picking up the pieces.  Now Anthony is back...because an escaped killer has made her his target and Anthony will not let that happen.  As they work together, danger gets closer, but both are determined to catch a serial killer before he strikes again - or worse, strikes Lauren.  As the suspense intensifies, so does the relationship between Lauren and Anthony again...but will they have their second chance?

I really enjoyed this fast paced romantic suspense by Cynthia Eden.  She swept me away to the bayou with her great descriptions and strong characters.  I really liked Lauren and Anthony.  They are both multi layered characters and Cynthia peels these layers back expertly.  Hidden fears, the past, and truths come out, and it only makes them and their relationship stronger.  I liked the development of these two through the story, and the pieces I kept learning about them.  Both of them are dedicated to their jobs, and I couldn't wait to see if they'd end up just as dedicated to each other.  There is tension and conflict personally, but I liked that they were still able to work together.

The suspenseful plot of Fear For Me was captivating!  It was a thrilling ride that kept me guessing right up to the conclusion, then completely surprised me!  I love it when this happens!

Fear For Me is a very well written blend of romance and suspense, and they balance each other out perfectly in this book.  Written in multiple POV's, I liked how Cynthia did this and it made me feel like I got to know the characters well.

Fear For Me is part of Cynthia Eden's For Me series, but can easily be read as a stand alone.  I'd recommend this to any romantic suspense reader!

5/5 Suspenseful stars!
